Akai Professional MPD232 USB MIDI Pad Controller

The MPD232 USB MIDI Pad Controller from Akai Professional features sixteen RGB illuminated MPC pads that are used to trigger drum hits or other samples in your software or external MIDI sound module. The pads are pressure- and velocity-sensitive, which make them responsive and intuitive to play.

The controller can be connected to your Mac or PC using the included USB cable, and, because it's class-compliant, no drivers are needed to install. The USB connection can be used to transmit MIDI information from the controller to a computer. The blend of intuitive MPC controls and USB connectivity lends a feel of classic beat making - suitable for producers, programmers, musicians, and DJs. The controller unit can be powered using a standard USB charger, a 6 VDC, 1A power adapter (both available separately), or via the connected computer.

The MPD232 controller features a 64-channel, 32-step sequencer that allows you to create, edit, and play sequences. It also features MIDI In and Out ports for connecting the unit to external MIDI devices like synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines using a 1/8"-to-MIDI adapter (included) and a standard 5-pin MIDI cable. The unit can also be connected to any iOS device using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit (available separately).

The controller has three different modes of operation: Preset, Edit, and Global Mode, allowing you to load a stored program, edit and customize a program, or set the controller's global parameters, respectively. It comes with Akai Pro MPC Essentials, Big Bang Drums and Big Bang Cinema from SONiVOX, Ableton Live Lite, and Software Preset Editor. The Software Preset Editor allows intuitive control editing from the front panel of the controller.
